In the automotive industry data control models and/or cubings are used for design evaluation and functional tests. Witte Bleckede, manufacturer of various workpiece fixturing systems, is breaking new ground by manufacturing modular cubings, enabling the combination of characteristic full or strip models with the advantages of modular measuring fixtures.
The advantages become apparent not only through shorter production times and substantial weight reductions but in particular by simple modification possibilities in the case of model changes.
The basic frames of modular cubings are assembled using standard profiles, i.e. from components of Alufix fixturing system. Due to the universal grid hole system of Alufix elements considerable time savings are already evident when compared to conventional cubings with cast bases. The workpiece contact points and cubing elements are easy to position and mount using the grid. Since the modular profiles are screwed together, no further joining processes such as a welding, glueing or riveting are necessary. The resulting 100 percent reusability is a further advantage. When model changes occur the majority of the profiles in the basic frame are reused and only those no longer suitable need be exchanged with longer or shorter components. Such a modular cubing can be adapted again and again for different models resulting in considerable savings in investment.
