When measuring sheet metal, gathering data on bolts and holes can be very time consuming. With
Fixinspect measuring accessories, precision-machined adapters in the shape of hemispheres, this
process can be considerably simplified and speeded up. Accurate data is determined by touching the
hemispheres, usually mounted with magnets, in holes using pins/spring loaded centres or on bolts via
threads/sleeves.
The entire process can now be further simplified. Using a programmable three-colored laser pointer
accurate outlines are projected onto flat and curved work pieces. They show not only the mounting
positions but also the type of Fixinspect accessory required can be shown as an outline on the sheet
metal. Thus confusion or inadvertent measuring of non occupied positions is prevented.
After measuring, this method also assists operators in removing all measuring accessories.
Quantity, position and shape of Fixinspect accessories can be changed at any time by updating an
IGES file.
Laser pointer technology can also be used e.g. to show the correct mounting points for support
columns on sandwich plates, when measuring horizontally positioned /underbody floor parts.
Likewise it is helpful when configuring seal on a vacuum grid plate corresponding to workpiece
geometry before machining.
