For simple moving of sandwich plates loaded with large fixtures and work pieces hovercraft is in use in many plants. But because hovercraft requires a very good, non-porous, flat floor surface to work as well as the availability of compressed air, Witte Bleckede has developed and introduced a roller driven sandwich plate.
This new MDD sandwich plate (MDD = Multi Direction Drive) is easy to move and steer. The special character of the rollers enables simple movement and positioning, which is remote controlled with the help of a joy stick. The controls automatically align the rollers to the desired turning direction. Then it is easy to rotate the sandwich plates on the spot or drive sideways. The rollers have a special outer surface, which ensures careful treatment of the floor.
The plates are equipped with powerful batteries and can run up to 120 minutes at a maximum speed of 5 km/h without mains supply. With dimensions of 300x2000x5000mm the MDD plates can carry approx. 2000kg.
The top surface plate is machined in high-tensile aluminum with a grid according to customer requirements for secure, accurate positioning of loads i.e. measuring fixtures. The MDD sandwich plate is secured hydraulically to the floor in its final position during use.
